Jim Kaplan is the founder of AuditNet®, the global resource for auditors. His passion to boost audit productivity by harnessing the power of technology and the Internet has earned him the status as the “Internet for Auditors Pioneer.”
After graduating from the American University, Washington, D.C. with a Master of Science in Accounting, Jim established his auditing career with local government, holding auditor and audit manager positions in Arlington and Fairfax counties, retiring in 2005 as the Director of Internal Audit with Fairfax County Public Schools, the 11th largest school district in the United States.
Jim became a Certified Internal Auditor in 1984 and was an active member of the IIA. He held local and international volunteer positions and was a founding member of the Northern Virginia Chapter, serving as Chapter President in 1989. He is also a member of the Association of Local Government Auditors and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
Jim’s groundbreaking leadership in the global audit community and his contributions to the profession were recognized by the Institute for Internal Auditors (IIA) with the Bradford Cadmus Award in 2007 and the Association of Local Government Auditors with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Jim is the author of The Auditor’s Guide to Internet Resources, published by The Institute for Internal Auditors. A firm believer in education and training, he has launched Training without Travel, providing thousands of auditors with online training and CPE. He is a subject matter expert, invited to speak at local, national, and international conferences and events.
