"A. Meet with the responsible Warehouse Manager and discuss general job responsibilities and work processes. Document key aspects and control points of the warehouse function. An understanding of the following should be obtained:
Material tracking system in use at the project
Receipt and distribution of material
Performance and documentation of physical inventories
Is there any bulk storage used (e.g., diesel storage)? If so, how is the commodity monitored to verify all usage is proper? Is a perpetual inventory log maintained?
Actual or potential problems with the warehouse function
Use of after-hours security
Thefts of materials, if any
After-hours receipt of material
Use of gate passes. If used, are they pre-numbered, controlled, and signed only at time of issuance? Are they collected when the employee/visitor leaves the site?
After-hours access to the warehouse and yard
