How Can You Be assured that a Course or Provider is approved for National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA)?
NASBA: The National Registry of CPE Sponsors is a program offered by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) to recognize sponsors who offer CPE in accordance with nationally recognized standards.
NASBA’s National Registry of CPE Sponsors approved ‘Learning Providers’ are certified to offer
Internet-based programs which are jointly approved by
NASBA, and the AICPA.
For more information about NASBA’s National Registry of CPE Providers, go to: http://www.learningmarket.org/page.cfm/Link=10/t=m/goSection=7
AuditNet® is registered with NASBA as a sponsor of CPE on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. AuditNet® Sponsor ID number is 112630. As a member of the NASBA Registry of CPE Sponsors, AUDITNET® has a responsibility to verify that CPE requirements are met, issue a certificate that includes certain NASBA required information, and maintain course and participant records for five years.
How You Can Confirm a CPE Course is NASBA Approved:
1. Verify the Sponsor Name: the organization offering the course is the sponsor and this should match on the CPE certificate.
2. Ask for the Sponsor ID Number: this should also be on the CPE certificate and should be provided by the sponsor.
3. Confirm with NASBA: To verify whether a provider and course is approved once you have the sponsor organization name and ID# or for other information, go to: http://www.learningmarket.org/page.cfm/action=ExhibList/ListID=1/t=m.
Helpful Things to Know:
For live online courses such as webinars, NASBA requires participants to be signed for the duration of the course and participants are required to answer questions randomly throughout the course to verify attendance. In addition, participants are required to complete an evaluation of the course to qualify for CPE.
State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit for CPAs. CPE Registry alone does not guarantee that courses are valid for CPE credits in all states. It is important to check with your state board to confirm CPE requirements. Go to www.nasba.org and click on “State Board Listing.”
If you are issued a CPE certificate and did not have to meet any of the requirements above, the course may not be CPE approved by NASBA or the AICPA.
