REPORT WRITING PLANNING WORKSHEET

The process of writing an audit report begins when the audit is initiated rather than at the end of the field work. In order to have an idea of where you are going you need to have a plan for how to get there. This worksheet is meant to start you thinking and planning for some of the basics that will be incorporated into the report.

What is the topic or subject of the audit?

What is the main idea (message, conclusion, theme or point of view)?

What are the supporting points?

What are the audit objectives?

What corrective action do you want the reader to take as a result of your report?

What impression do you want to make on the reader, or what tone do you want to convey?
