AuditNet® Special
Interest Groups (ASIG)
For many years I have observed the behavior of auditors interacting
directly with me as the coordinator of AuditNet or through the various
discussion forums available via the Internet. There appears to be a common
pattern wherein auditors ask questions that could be easily answered by
other auditors in the same industry or with the same common interests. So
why then are there not more special interest groups for auditors?
What is a special interest group?
An special interest group (SIG) is a group of individuals set apart by criteria such as industry segment or concentration who share information and resources. As a special interest group member, you will be able to network with auditors in your industry group to discuss common issues, share resources and mentor new auditors interested in your industry area. AuditNet® special interest groups can form a sense of community and bond auditors together in either a formal or informal organization.
Current Special Interest Groups for Auditors
This should not come as a shock but some special interest groups for auditors already exist. Most of them represent professional associations that have formed out of a common need for guidance and direction. Some of those professional associations have established subgroups focusing on unique interests or needs.
AuditNet® Special Interest Groups (ASIG) Mission
The mission of the AuditNet® Special Interest Groups (ASIG) Program is to share information and exchange ideas to advance the audit profession. AuditNet® Special Interest Groups (ASIG), as forums for sharing knowledge and experience, will be a tool to educate auditors with a common interest in some technical matter, issue or methodology.
Forming a New AuditNet® Special Interest Group
If you would like to form an AuditNet® Special Interest Group (ASIG) send your proposal to editor@auditnet.org. All that is required is a commitment to act as the ASIG coordinator for the group. The coordinator would be responsible for organizing the group, encourage the sharing of resources, foster a network and mentor group members.
