The Audit Committee Handbook

By Louis Braiotta Jr, R. Trent Gazzaway, Robert Colson and Sridhar Ramamoorti

Audit committees today have unprecedented responsibility for their company’s financial under an increasingly risk and regulatory environment.  This handbook, which is now in its Fifth Edition provides auditors with a desk top reference guide to navigate the potholes and pitfalls of this new landscape. The first few chapters cover an orientation to the subject including the focus on corporate responsibility, role of the audit committee, external users, legal environment and of course the latest “rules of the road”.  The authors continue with sections on planning (both for external and internal audit), monitoring and reviewing and reporting functions.  There are plenty of exhibits and guides that auditors will find useful as they seek greater understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the audit committee as well as delineating the auditors professional interaction.

I have always been of the opinion that a professional library should have all the tools and resources covering a wide variety of topics. This is one of those invaluable reference resources that should be a part of your internal audit library!
